David Torrens

David Torrens is a Cuban singer-songwriter from Guanabacoa, Havana, and one of the voices of the third generation of Cuba's Nueva Trova. He started out as a teenage keyboardist with the group Canto Libre and was part of Guanabacoa's trova movement in the 1990s. In 1995 he signed with EMI Music in Mexico, where he lived for over fifteen years and recorded "Mi poquita fe" and "Ni de aquí ni de allá". His song "Sentimientos ajenos" won the ERES Award in 1998, and his album "Razones" took the 2010 Cubadisco award for fusion. He calls his sound "rockasón": Cuban son, trova and rock. He has shared songs with Polito Ibáñez, Carlos Varela, Kelvis Ochoa and Isaac Delgado, and today splits his stage time between Havana, Miami and Europe.
