Hector Tellez Jr.

Hector Tellez Jr. is a Nashville-based guitarist, singer, and songwriter whose music draws from blues, soul, rock, and the Cuban musical traditions he grew up with. Born in Cuba, Hector was raised around music. His father, Héctor Téllez, is a well-known Cuban bolero singer, and his early exposure to Cuban "feeling" music became an important part of his musical foundation. As he grew older, he also discovered American and British blues, soul, and rock through the music available to him, developing a particular appreciation for artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, and Leonard Cohen. Hector initially focused on guitar, spending years developing his playing and exploring different styles. Over time, songwriting and singing became an equally important part of his musical identity, allowing him to bring together the different influences that shaped him. Since moving to Nashville, Hector has had the opportunity to work with a range of established musicians and producers, including Niko Bolas, Barrett Martin, Krist Novoselic, Peter Buck, and Raul Malo. His music reflects the meeting point between his Cuban roots and his love of blues, soul, and rock, with a focus on honest songwriting, guitar, and voice.
